Phlebotomy Career Training Academy is a private for-profit post-secondary proprietary school licensed and accredited by the Louisiana Board of Regents. We are not accredited by the Department of Education. We do not offer credit hours and accept financial aid.

What is a Phlebotomy Technician?

A Phlebotomy Technician, also known as a Phlebotomist, is a healthcare professional specializing in drawing blood from patients for various medical tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations. They are trained in techniques for safely and hygienically collecting blood samples, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the integrity of the specimen for accurate testing. What is an EKG Technician? 

An EKG technician, also known as an electrocardiograph technician, is an allied healthcare professional who uses specialized equipment to measure the heart’s electrical activity. They perform diagnostic tests that help doctors identify cardiovascular problems in patients, such as heart failure or heart attack. EKG technicians usually work in hospital settings and are also needed in outpatient clinics, diagnostic testing centers, labs, nursing and long-term care homes, and private physicians’ practices.


Is Phlebotomy/EKG a good stepping stone into other medical careers?

How do I become a certified Phlebotomy/EKG Technician? 
You need a high school diploma or equivalent and formal training through an accredited institution. Students who pass and complete the Phlebotomy/EKG Technician program will become eligible to take their national exam and are eligible to work anywhere in the United States upon passing the exam.

Do you offer job placement?

We do not offer job placement; however, you will receive exceptional training to help you get a job. During the course, your instructor will advise you on how to find and interview for potential Phlebotomy/EKG jobs. Talk to your instructor about being listed as a reference for your resume! Instructors can even write students letters of recommendation to help students find work. Many places of employment reach out to PCTA asking to hire our Phlebotomists/EKG technicians, and we will always pass these leads on to you!
